IRCM has today published three new guidance documents which form part of a growing library of supporting information to assist Registrants and Pre-Registrants to work in line with the Standard of Proficiency in Case Management. Aspiring case managers may also find these helpful.
Accessible written documents
This guidance document has been developed to support the creation of clear, inclusive, and accessible written materials for all audiences. Writing accessible documents ensures that all service users, colleagues, and stakeholders can engage with information equitably, regardless of background, ability, or communication needs.

Cultural Competency
This guidance has been developed to support Registrants and Pre-Registrants in strengthening their cultural competence and awareness when working with service users. It should be applied in accordance with relevant legislation. It aims to highlight the importance of recognising diversity, respecting individual identities, and adapting professional practice to meet varied needs. Cultural competence is an ongoing process of learning and reflection. It is not possible to fully understand every community or cultural nuance, but it is a professional duty to identify areas for personal development and to approach service users with openness, respect, and professional curiosity.
Conflicts of Interest
Registered Case Managers and Pre-Registrants are expected to identify and appropriately managing conflicts of interest to protect service users and third parties and maintain public trust. This guidance sets out the responsibilities of Registrants and Pre-Registrants with respect to recognising, disclosing, and managing conflicts of interest.
Our thanks to the members of the Professional Development Committee and Equality and Diversity and Inclusion Committee who contributed to creating and reviewing these.
