Registration has started its phased roll out, here is a quick guide to applying to join the Register of Case Managers.

Initially, registration is only open to members of BABICM, CMSUK or VRA, who meet our eligibility criteria. Those members with 15+ years experience in case management plus IRCM Registration and Conduct Panel Members may now apply.

Why register?

As a reminder, IRCM’s mission is to safeguard people who use case management services, by setting and upholding standards for Registered Case Managers. Registering not only allows you to be part of this mission but also to showcase your proficiency to potential referrers and the public.

Preparation

Once you are ready to apply, our handy checklist will help you prepare for the registration process:

  • The portal must be used on laptop or desktop.
  • Do you have a quiet room and space?
  • Refreshments at the ready?
  • Read the application guidance – it is likely that we may have queries if you haven’t read this.
  • Check eligibility in the guidance or the Registration and Renewal Policy
  • Do you have your CM hours ready? The guidance includes details of how to calculate your hours.
  • Check you have the documentation at the ready, in digital format only. There are quite a few things to upload including ID, confirmation of membership, CV, and evidence of qualifying experience which you will need to obtain from others. See section 4.6 of the guidance.
  • The time taken to complete registration process can vary depending on your route and the answers provided. We would suggest you allow 2 hours to include preparing the information but you may need more. Your progress on the portal can be saved and you can return to your application at any time.

What happens after you register?

  • You will receive confirmation of your application.
  • Your application will be assessed by two members of the IRCM team. If agreement on eligibility cannot be reached a Registration and Conduct Panel Member will also review it.
  • It takes up to fifteen working days for assessment without further referral.
  • Any additional information needed will be requested.
  • Communication will be sent to confirm registration or if refused, details surrounding refusal.
  • A welcome pack will be sent to new registrants confirming details about:
    • how to access your registrant logo
    • how to access your registration certificate

Detailed information regarding the registration process can be found in our “Applying to join the register” guidance and on the Join the Register page.
